North Carolina Residential Real Estate Lawyers

When buying or selling real property, having a qualified and experienced attorney assist you with the legal details involved with the closing transaction is a good investment.

At the law offices of Bagwell Holt Smith Jones & Crowson, P.A., we have more than 60 years of legal practice experience to draw from and our heralded staff of paralegals has more than 25 years of experience. We work with buyers, sellers, lenders and real estate agents. Contact our offices in Chapel Hill and Morrisville to learn about the benefits of having an experienced attorney represent your legal interests and rights during the home closing.

Unlike the practice of many law firms, each and every transaction in our office is overseen from start to finish by an attorney. These transactions include:

  • Home purchases
  • Mortgage refinances
  • Investment property purchases
  • Foreclosure purchases
  • Construction loan closings
  • Equity line closings

We also assist clients with:

Maintaining a Strong Referral Program

Our firm takes a proactive and efficient approach to real estate closing management. Our commitment to infusing technological enhancements into the process has made us a popular referral for residential real estate agents and lenders committed to providing their clients with a quality closing experience. To learn more about real estate closings and our role in the process, see our real estate FAQ page.

Helping Our Clients Understand the Closing Process

Every real estate closing presents parties with interdependent legal rights and obligations, and every loan closing involves the commitment to important loan documentation containing significant and varied financing terms. Only a seasoned and experienced lawyer can be ready to address all the varied legal questions and issues that arise in the closing. At our firm, an attorney conducts each and every closing from start to finish, not a paralegal or loan officer.

About Property Surveys

When purchasing a home, a survey of the property conducted by a registered land surveyor is strongly recommended in order to uncover and avoid serious problems. These problems include encroachments, restrictive covenant setback violations, boundary disputes, deed gaps, deed overlaps, and more. It should be considered an integral part of both our title examination and your due diligence investigation of the property.

Although it may be a prudent investment, unless it is a specific requirement of your lender, the decision to invest in a survey is yours. We encourage our buyers to consider it carefully and inform us promptly of their decision.
